AI trading bots can independently learn to coordinate for higher profits

According to an analysis by the financial management platform Ramp, companies have significantly increased their spending on AI applications. Ramp analyzed spending data from tens of thousands of companies and billions of transactions.


A new study shows that trading bots can learn to coordinate with each other to the detriment of other market participants, all without communication or collusion. Two different mechanisms lead to above-average profits for the bots—and less fair markets overall.
